Separate the rental price from the deposit
Ask which amount pays for the rental and which amount is a security deposit or hold. Confirm how each is collected, the accepted payment method and how the deposit is released or returned. Do not assume that a deposit is either included in the rate or an additional rental fee.
Check mileage and the included insurance coverage
Describe your likely driving and compare it with the included allowance. Ask for the additional-mileage charge and any route or usage restrictions. For insurance, request the provider's exact requirements for the proposed vehicle and every driver; a card benefit or existing policy should not be assumed to satisfy them without confirmation.
Put extras and changes on the same page
Request taxes, delivery, collection at a different address, parking or airport-related charges as applicable. Ask about fuel or charging on return, late return, extensions, cancellation and damage procedures. Written answers make it easier to understand the commitment before payment, without relying on a headline figure.
